Rwanda has reaffirmed the
importance of its education partnership with China as recipients of the 2026
Chinese Government Scholarships prepare to pursue their studies in China.
Higher Education Council
(HEC) Director General Edward Kadozi joined Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda Gao
Wenqi at a farewell reception for Rwandan students selected for the
scholarships.
Dr. Kadozi expressed
appreciation to China for its continued support to Rwanda’s education sector
and encouraged the scholarship recipients to make the most of their academic
opportunities.
He urged the students to
work hard, develop strong ties with China and return to Rwanda equipped with
knowledge and skills that can contribute to the country’s development.
The HEC Director General
also highlighted Rwanda’s ambition to increase the number of its students
studying abroad, with particular emphasis on disciplines considered critical to
the country’s economic transformation.
The scholarship programme
forms part of the broader education cooperation between Rwanda and China,
providing Rwandan students with opportunities to access higher education and
specialised training in various fields.
Rwanda has increasingly
placed international education and skills development at the centre of efforts
to strengthen its human capital and support national economic transformation.
