The Centre for Space Life Sciences (CSLS) of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has inaugurated the University of Ibadan Space Club to provide students with opportunities to explore space science, innovation, research and technology.

The inauguration took place on Friday, August 28, 2026, at the Department of Physics, University of Ibadan, under the theme “Inspire the Next Generation.”

The event was led by the Acting Director of CSLS, Dr Olakunle Rufus Oladosu, and brought together students and space science enthusiasts for discussions on the growing possibilities within the space sector.

The newly established Space Club is expected to expose students to areas including space medicine, data science, radio telescope development, community outreach and ASPEX 2026, while providing opportunities to learn, experiment, collaborate and develop solutions to real-world challenges.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Oghenerevwe described the club as a platform for integrating African space science and empowering young problem-solvers to develop solutions for society.

CSLS said the future of space science depends on young people who are willing to explore beyond established boundaries and imagine new possibilities.
