M-Pesa Mozambique and Absa
Bank Moçambique have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen
Mozambique’s digital payments ecosystem and improve the availability of
electronic money across the country.
The strategic partnership is
expected to provide Super Agents and M-Pesa Agents with easier, faster and more
consistent access to the liquidity required to meet customer needs.
One of the solutions
emerging from the collaboration enables M-Pesa merchants using Paga Fácil to
transfer funds directly and quickly into their Absa bank accounts, providing
greater convenience and faster access to their money.
The partnership is aimed at
strengthening the liquidity position of M-Pesa’s agent and merchant network,
helping ensure that electronic money remains available where and when customers
need it.
Vodacom Mozambique said the
initiative is intended to improve convenience, build greater trust in digital
financial services and expand financial inclusion among Mozambicans.
The agreement also reflects
efforts by M-Pesa and Absa Bank to strengthen links between mobile money and
traditional banking services, creating a more connected financial ecosystem for
individuals and businesses.
