The Nigeria Data Protection
Commission (NDPC) has inaugurated and inducted members of its Anti-Corruption
and Transparency Unit (ACTU) as part of efforts to strengthen integrity,
transparency and accountability within the data protection regulator.
Officials from the
Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)
conducted the inauguration and induction of the ACTU members.
National Commissioner of the
NDPC, Dr. Vincent O. Olatunji, said public service is a position of trust and
stressed the responsibility of public servants to uphold honesty,
accountability and transparency in the discharge of their duties and service to
the Nigerian people.
Olatunji also emphasised the
importance of establishing systems that prevent and discourage corrupt
practices, noting that the NDPC remains committed to strengthening transparency
and accountability across its operations and regulatory activities.
He said the Commission would
deepen its collaboration with the ICPC in advancing these objectives and
pledged the full support of the NDPC to the newly inducted ACTU members as they
carry out their responsibilities.
The National Commissioner
expressed appreciation to the ICPC for its goodwill and partnership, while
commending its leadership for recognising ACTU as an important complementary
structure for promoting integrity within government institutions.
According to Olatunji,
accountability is not merely a principle of public administration but is
essential to building institutions that earn and sustain public trust.
He said the NDPC looks
forward to continued collaboration with the ICPC to strengthen integrity,
transparency and responsible public service across government institutions.
