Benin’s Ministry of Communication, in charge of Media, has concluded a series of consultations with stakeholders in the national media ecosystem following a working session with the High Authority for Audiovisual and Communication (HAAC).

The Minister of Communication, in charge of Media, Aurelie I. ADAM SOULE, was received on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the headquarters of HAAC by its President, Édouard LOKO.

The meeting was followed by a working session between officials from the Ministry and HAAC, bringing the consultation process with actors across the national media sector to a close.

Discussions focused on the modernization of public, private and community media as part of efforts to build a more modern and sustainable media environment in Benin.

The consultations also addressed the development of media content capable of promoting Benin, as well as stronger collaboration between traditional media organisations and emerging digital players.

Another key area of discussion was the fight against fake news and the manipulation of information, reflecting the changing challenges facing the media industry in an increasingly digital information environment.

The Ministry said the broader objective is to position the media sector as a pillar of modernity and economic viability, capable of producing quality content, promoting Benin and creating new economic opportunities.
