MTN Nigeria has reaffirmed
its commitment to supporting efforts to transform Nigeria’s tourism sector into
a multi-billion-dollar economic engine, driven by culture, creativity,
technology, connectivity and commerce.
The telecom operator,
through See Naija, joined key public and private sector stakeholders at the
Ember to Remember National Stakeholders Conference in Lagos, where participants
discussed strategies for unlocking the country’s vast tourism potential.
The conference brought
together stakeholders including Hannatu Musa Musawa, Minister of Arts, Culture,
Tourism and the Creative Economy; Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, Chief Marketing Officer
of MTN Nigeria; Idowu Adesokan, General Manager, Consumer Segments at MTN
Nigeria; Paul Onwuanibe, CEO of Landmark Group; and Ifeoma Mbonu, CEO of
MyCityApp.
Discussions focused on the
opportunities and interventions required to grow Nigeria’s tourism industry and
position it as a major contributor to the country’s economy.
Technology and connectivity
were identified as important components of this transformation, alongside
Nigeria’s cultural and creative assets and the commercial opportunities that
can emerge from a stronger tourism ecosystem.
MTN said its participation
reflects its commitment to working with stakeholders to advance the development
of the sector and support greater opportunities for Nigerians to discover,
experience and share the stories that make the country unique.
The company is pursuing this
commitment through its partnership with the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture,
Tourism and the Creative Economy, as part of efforts to contribute to the
sector’s growth and transformation.
