Senegal’s Ministry of
Telecommunications and Digital Affairs is exploring the integration of
SunuCorp’s local computer assembly operations into the Senegal Digital Factory
initiative as the country seeks to strengthen its digital industrial capacity
and technological autonomy.
The ministry’s Chief of
Staff, Sira Niang Sy, represented Minister Samba Diouf during a visit to
SunuCorp’s computer assembly unit in Keur Ndiaye Lo on October 1, 2026.
The visit provided an
opportunity to examine SunuCorp’s industrial model, which combines computer
equipment assembly, training and skills transfer, as well as prospects for
collaboration under the Manufacturing Industry component of Program 8 of the
New Deal Technologique.
Discussions and
demonstrations covered the different stages of computer assembly and
commissioning, system installation and configuration, testing methods, and best
practices in security and cybersecurity. The company also presented its
SUNUCAMP model, which focuses particularly on skills transfer.
The potential integration of
SunuCorp into PRJ 8.2 – Manufacturing Industry is expected to open
opportunities for collaboration in technological sovereignty, skills
development and the security of locally produced IT equipment.
The initiative comes as
Senegal seeks to develop an ecosystem capable of producing digital equipment
locally, transferring technical know-how and creating more opportunities for
young people.
Through the engagement, the
ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national industrial players
and promoting a competitive, innovative and value-creating Senegalese digital
industry.
“Produce locally, develop
skills, strengthen our technological autonomy,” the ministry said, reiterating
the ambition of the New Deal Technologique to make digital technology a sector
of production, skills and jobs.
