Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy (MICDE), through the State Department for TVET, has partnered with Huawei Technologies Kenya and the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) to strengthen cybersecurity awareness and promote data protection among students and trainers at Kisii National Polytechnic.

The engagement took place during the ongoing Cybersecurity Week Sensitization Programme, where participants were encouraged to adopt safe digital practices and improve their understanding of cybersecurity and data protection.

The sessions also raised awareness of the ongoing Huawei ICT Competition, encouraging students to participate, showcase their technical skills and explore opportunities in ICT innovation.

The initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to building cybersecurity capacity, strengthening digital skills and preparing young people to participate in Kenya’s growing digital economy.
