As part of events to commemorate this year’s Nelson Mandela International Day, Vodacom South Africa organized a full day of activities for its staff. These activities aimed to make a positive impact in Gauteng and help various Early Childhood Development centers and schools in the area.

The activities included packing 750 food parcels, planting 150 sustainable vegetable gardens, creating 300 Jars of Hope, and signing up for online volunteering.

Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom Group, Shameel Joosub was present at the Midrand Campus to lend a helping hand to activities ongoing at the grounds and to show his appreciation to all staff for their support.

The theme for this year is — “The Legacy Lives on Through You: Climate, Food, and Solidarity.”

It emphasizes the relevance of Mandela's legacy in addressing contemporary issues. It highlights the urgent need to tackle climate change and food insecurity, promoting sustainable practices, and ensuring access to nutritious food for all.

Additionally, the theme underscores the importance of solidarity and collaboration in overcoming global challenges.

People and organizations across South Africa participate in various activities such as volunteering, community service projects, education initiatives, environmental clean-ups, and supporting charitable causes. The goal is to promote humanitarianism, unity, and the values of equality, peace, and freedom that Nelson Mandela fought for throughout his life.
