Smart
Africa and the African Leadership University (ALU) have signed a Memorandum of
Understanding to collaborate in training and supporting selected
high-performing African public sector leaders to drive their countries’
digital transformation and service delivery efforts.
Under the
three-year agreement, both institutions will primarily collaborate to develop
and deliver training programs focused on digitally transforming the public
sector and improving service delivery. Additionally, the partnership will encompass
a range of other activities including creating career-oriented programs
tailored for young Africans.
Capacity building activities will focus on support in
the development of leadership, product management, digital transformation,
being citizen-centric, deliverology and effective service delivery in
the public sector.
Smart Africa CEO Mr. Lacina Koné believes that
this agreement paves the way for change in Africa’s public sector digital
skills and ultimately support digital transformation on the continent.
“A robust public sector
forms the bedrock of our pursuit of sustainable digital transformation. By fostering
capacity building initiatives for leaders, in collaboration with partners like
ALU, we fortify our collective ability to drive meaningful change,” he said
Veda Sunassee, the CEO of African Leadership University,
expressed a shared sentiment with his counterpart, emphasizing the significance
of the partnership. He emphasized the importance of developing entrepreneurial
leaders across all sectors, including the private and public domains. This
collaboration with Smart Africa is seen as a pivotal opportunity to amplify
these efforts and drive the impactful outcomes that both organizations aspire
to achieve.
