Communication Ministry of Nigeria partners IHS Towers in N1Billion deal to train 3 million technical talents

Nigeria’s Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani has announced a N1 billion partnership deal between the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy and leading telecommunications infrastructure company, IHS Tower.

The partnership will witness the establishment of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Learning Community, a visionary initiative aimed at supporting the 3MTT program which was launched by the Federal Government earlier in October as part of its plans to develop a total of 3 million technical talents in Nigeria by the year 2025.

According to Dr. Bosun Tijani in a statement announcing the deal on Monday, not only will the 3MTT Learning Community play a pivotal role in advancing digital skills and knowledge across Nigeria but also create learning communities in all 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory contributing to the growth of a technical adept workforce.

In addition to the N1 billion financial support, HIS Tower has pledged to cover the salaries of 37 dedicated learning community managers in each location for the next three.

“This initiative, which is in support of our recently launched 3MTT programme, will facilitate the set-up of learning communities in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The N1 billion funding from IHS Towers also includes a commitment to paying the salaries of 37 dedicated learning community managers for each location for the next 3 years,” the Minister revealed.

“This is the first in a number of partnerships that we will be securing in support of our targets, specifically for the 3MTT programme and broadly for the Knowledge pillar in our Strategic Blueprint.,” he added in the statement.

The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, a critical part of the Renewed Hope agenda, is aimed at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone to power the country’s digital economy and position it as a net talent exporter.

The ministry will select individuals who have expressed interest in acquiring specific skills and will cover the expenses associated with their training.
