MTN Uganda's philanthropic arm, the MTN Foundation, has strengthened its commitment to community empowerment through a substantial donation of vocational training equipment worth UGX 15.4 million to the ESMDCE project in Kabarole District. The contribution forms part of the telecom giant's #MTNChangemakers initiative, which focuses on creating sustainable economic opportunities for vulnerable groups across Uganda.

The generous donation will directly benefit 29 women participating in skills development programs, providing them with essential tailoring equipment to establish independent businesses upon completing their training. This intervention addresses critical gaps in vocational resources while aligning with national efforts to reduce unemployment and gender inequality in rural communities.

MTN Uganda's Head of Corporate Services, Dennis Kakonge in his remark highlighted the Foundation's broader vision during the handover ceremony, noting that last year alone, the #MTNChangemakers program invested UGX 500 million across 25 community projects nationwide. The Kabarole initiative specifically targets women's economic empowerment through practical skills acquisition, enabling beneficiaries to generate stable incomes and contribute to local economic growth.

District officials praised MTN's ongoing support for grassroots development, emphasizing how such corporate partnerships complement government efforts to uplift underserved populations. The donated equipment includes industrial sewing machines, fabric cutting tools, and other professional tailoring supplies that will enhance the quality of training at the ESMDCE vocational center.

This latest contribution reinforces MTN Foundation's position as a leader in corporate social responsibility within Uganda's telecom sector, demonstrating how strategic private sector interventions can create lasting social impact while supporting national development priorities.
