The Chief Executive Officer of MTN's Super Messaging App, Ayoba, Burak Akinci has assured Ghanaian users of their safety on the Ayoba digital platform.
According to him Ayoba as an end-to-end encrypted messaging app that allows users to send text, videos, and pictures to other users, is well encrypted on the server side which makes it difficult for easy penetration by any unscrupulous people.
Speaking to some selected journalists at the Iconic MTN House in Accra, Mr. Akinci acknowledged the importance of user privacy and security on the Ayoba platform and said efforts are made to consistently educate users about the problems and the risks in the digital space.
“Consumer safety on our platform is a very important aspect of our content strategy and you can find any kind of educational content in the channels and also on the micro apps to be safe in the digital world,” he remarked.
Launched in 2019 to improve access to affordable communications, Ayoba is active in 17 MTN markets and is available to download onto Android smartphones in numerous other markets from Google Play and via the Ayoba website as an over-the-top (OTT) offering.
Following its introduction to Ghanaian users in 2020, the MTN Ayoba App recently recorded a two million subscriber milestone in Ghana which officials describe the feat as a milestone.
At the just-ended 4th National Communications Awards, MTN Ayoba was adjudged the Top Innovative Technology and Telecom product of the Year.
Commenting on the subscribers' surge, Mr. Akinci expressed excitement about the monumental development and admitted, that the traction witnessed is not only in Ghana but across the entire African continent about the use of the MTN Ayoba App.
“We are happy to get that award, and we will work harder to be a better game changer and supporter of Ghana’s digital economy,” he said.
“The traction we see from all around Africa it’s huge and we are very happy in the sense that our users are seeing the important milestones we have chalked, and they are happy and giving us huge support and, this is keeping us motivated, to make our service on Ayoba better each day,” he added.
The MTN Ayoba CEO further disclosed that they are targeting 100 million active users by the end of 2025 and explained that although it’s an ambitious target they are confident of achieving it because they are currently on track to reach their target.
