Namibia is advancing the
national implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)
Protocol on Digital Trade through a regulatory assessment aimed at identifying
gaps in its existing legal, regulatory and institutional framework.
The validation workshop for
Namibia’s AfCFTA Digital Trade Regulatory Assessment is underway in Windhoek,
bringing together policymakers, regulators and industry stakeholders to review
and validate findings against the requirements of the Protocol on Digital
Trade.
The process will contribute
to the development of a National Digital Trade Action Plan, which will outline
priority measures to address alignment gaps, strengthen Namibia’s digital trade
framework and support the domestication and implementation of the protocol.
The exercise forms part of
the AfCFTA Secretariat’s broader efforts to help State Parties align their
national laws, rules and regulations with the Protocol on Digital Trade.
The AfCFTA Secretariat has
encouraged other State Parties to submit formal requests for similar technical
assistance to support their national implementation efforts.
