Mauritius Telecom has launched the myt Learning Hub Portal, a free online platform designed to make digital and artificial intelligence (AI) skills accessible to all Mauritians.

The launch took place at the Telecom Tower in the presence of Dr. Avinash Ramtohul, Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation; Dr. Kaviraj Sharma Sukon, Minister of Tertiary Education, Science and Research; and Sarat Lallah, Chairman of Mauritius Telecom, alongside other dignitaries.

The Learning Hub is a joint initiative between Mauritius Telecom and Amazon Web Services (AWS), reflecting their shared commitment to strengthening digital skills and promoting AI in Mauritius. The initiative forms part of the government’s target to train 50,000 Mauritians.

Speaking at the launch, Veemal Gungadin, Chief Executive Officer of Mauritius Telecom, said the partnership with AWS provides access to a wealth of knowledge and training.

“With AWS, we now have access to an exceptional wealth of knowledge and training. The 16 courses we are launching are only the beginning. Our ambition is to make this knowledge accessible to all Mauritians, free of charge, through a platform developed here in Mauritius. We want everyone to be able to learn, progress and seize the opportunities of the digital economy,” he said.

Dr. Avinash Ramtohul highlighted the importance of the government’s 50,000-person training target, describing it as more than a numerical objective.

“Training 50,000 citizens is not merely a numerical target; it is a national strategic imperative. AI literacy must be accessible to every student, every professional and every household in Mauritius,” he said.

Dr. Kaviraj Sharma Sukon called on leaders of universities, teachers and students in higher education institutions to embrace the myt Learning Hub as a springboard that complements their academic programmes.

Through the launch of the portal, Mauritius Telecom continues its transformation beyond its role as a connectivity operator, putting digital platforms and skills at the service of the country’s development.
