MTN Benin has partnered with Huawei Technologies to empower women with digital skills and knowledge.
This initiative is designed to address the issue of gender inequality in technology, with a focus on empowering girls and women in Benin.
As the
world prepares to commemorate the International Day of Girls in ICT, the
urgency to bridge the digital gender gap becomes increasingly apparent. Recent
studies reveal a stark reality: women and girls comprise less than 30% of professionals
in data and artificial intelligence fields globally. This sobering statistic
underscores the imperative for concerted efforts to rectify this imbalance and
create a more inclusive tech ecosystem.
Speaking on
the partnership, Uche Ofodile, CEO of MTN Benin, emphasized the transformative
impact it is poised to have and noted that the collaboration will go a long way
in assisting women in Benin to become tech-savvy.
Central to
the partnership is the commitment to education and skill-building. Through a
series of targeted programs and initiatives, MTN Benin and Huawei are expected
to work hand in hand to provide women with access to comprehensive training in
digital technologies.
From coding
and programming to data analysis and artificial intelligence, these courses
will equip participants with the proficiency needed to thrive in an increasingly
digitized world.
