MTN Group has announced the
appointment of Mitwa Ng’ambi as its new Group Chief People and Culture Officer,
as part of a broader leadership transition affecting several senior executive
roles across the organisation.
Ng’ambi, who currently
serves as Chief Executive Officer of MTN Côte d’Ivoire, will join the MTN Group
Executive Committee no later than 1 September 2026. She will take over the role
following the planned retirement of Paul Norman later this year.
MTN Group President and CEO
Ralph Mupita described the appointment as a key milestone in advancing the
company’s people and culture agenda under its Ambition 2030 strategy. He
acknowledged Norman’s long-standing contribution to the Group, noting his nearly
three decades of service.

As part of the leadership
changes, Abbad Reda, currently CEO of MTN Zambia, will succeed Ng’ambi as CEO
of MTN Côte d’Ivoire. Larry Annetts, formerly Chief Marketing Officer and Chief
Commercial Officer seconded to Irancell, will assume the role of CEO of MTN
Zambia. All appointments will take effect no later than 1 September 2026.
MTN said the internal
appointments reflect the depth of leadership talent within the Group and the
strength of its succession planning framework.
Ng’ambi brings over 15 years
of experience in the telecommunications sector across multiple African markets,
having previously held senior leadership roles in Cameroon, Rwanda, Ghana,
Senegal, Benin and other countries. Her experience includes leading business
turnarounds, organisational restructuring and digital transformation
initiatives.
The Group noted that the
leadership changes are aligned with its Ambition 2030 strategy, which focuses
on expanding digital and financial inclusion across Africa.
