MTN South Africa has
announced a R281 million investment in Mpumalanga during the current financial
year as part of efforts to strengthen network capacity, expand connectivity and
improve service resilience across the province.
The announcement followed a
visit by MTN South Africa’s executive committee, led by Deputy CEO Yolanda
Cuba, as part of the company’s ongoing multi-stakeholder engagement programme
across the country.
During the visit, MTN
executives held engagements with business leaders, government stakeholders and
institutions, including the University of Mpumalanga, to discuss opportunities
for supporting the province’s digital development.
The planned investment will
focus on enhancing the capacity and resilience of MTN’s network infrastructure,
with the company seeking to improve connectivity and support growing demand for
digital services across Mpumalanga.
MTN said the investment
forms part of its broader commitment to advancing digital inclusion and
expanding access to reliable connectivity across South Africa.
The announcement follows
recent investments by the telecommunications operator in the Free State,
Northern Cape and Limpopo, as it continues to engage provincial stakeholders on
digital development priorities.
The company said its
engagements with government, businesses and institutions are intended to
strengthen collaboration around connectivity, digital transformation and the
broader opportunities presented by the digital economy.
