Efforts
to develop a skilled and future-ready refrigeration and air-conditioning
workforce in Ghana are being strengthened as part of initiatives to accelerate
the transition to sustainable cooling technologies.
The
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ghana, in collaboration with the
Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and other stakeholders, is validating
new training programmes focused on Refrigeration Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
technology and Mobile Air-Conditioning (MAC) systems under the Kigali
Implementation Plan.
The
workshop is aimed at ensuring that the training content aligns with industry
requirements while equipping technicians, trainers, and practitioners with the
technical skills needed to support environmentally sustainable cooling
practices.
According
to UNDP Ghana, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote
climate-friendly technologies and strengthen national capacity for managing the
transition to low-emission cooling systems.
Stakeholders
involved in the process are expected to contribute to refining the curriculum
to ensure it reflects current industry standards and emerging technological
developments in the sector.
