Zamtel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ericsson to support the rollout of private 4G and 5G connectivity solutions in Zambia, in a move aimed at accelerating digital transformation and strengthening enterprise connectivity.

The agreement was formalised during a visit by a delegation from Ericsson led by the Head of Eastern and Northern Africa, Mr. Alain Maupin.

The partnership is expected to enable the deployment of private network solutions designed to provide secure, high-performance connectivity for businesses across key sectors of the economy. These solutions are intended to enhance operational reliability, improve efficiency, and support increased automation and innovation within enterprise environments.

According to Zamtel, the collaboration forms part of its broader strategy to leverage strategic partnerships and emerging technologies to advance Zambia’s digital agenda.

The telecom operator said the initiative will contribute to building a more connected digital ecosystem for businesses and communities, while supporting national efforts to expand access to advanced communication infrastructure.

Ericsson’s involvement is expected to bring global expertise in network technologies to the partnership, supporting the development and deployment of next-generation connectivity solutions in the country.

The two organisations reaffirmed their commitment to working together to accelerate digital transformation and enable the growth of innovative, technology-driven services in Zambia.
