Namibia’s Minister of
Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has visited Angola’s
newly inaugurated National Data Centre and Cloud infrastructure in Camama,
Luanda, as part of ongoing regional engagement at ANGOTIC 2026.
The visit, formed part of a
broader learning and exchange programme involving the Namibian delegation
attending the regional technology forum.
Minister Theofelus and her
delegation were received by the Director General of the Instituto Nacional de
Fomento da Sociedade de Informação (INFOSI), Mr. André Mpumba Pedro, who led a
guided tour of the facility and provided an overview of its infrastructure and
operational systems.
Following the tour, INFOSI
Consultant Mr. Fernando Vicente engaged the delegation in a technical briefing,
offering additional insights into the data centre’s operations and responding
to questions on its service delivery capabilities and architecture.
The Minister expressed
satisfaction with the level of technological advancement demonstrated by the
facility, noting the importance of robust digital infrastructure in supporting
national digital transformation strategies.
She further highlighted that
Namibia is actively advancing plans to develop its own national data centre,
underscoring the relevance of Angola’s experience as a reference point for
infrastructure development.
The Camama Data Centre is
part of Angola’s broader digital transformation agenda and is integrated into a
high-speed fibre-optic network that connects key government institutions,
enhancing digital service delivery and data management capacity.
Officials indicated that the
facility is intended to strengthen national digital resilience and support the
expansion of cloud-based government services.
The visit reflects growing
regional cooperation in digital infrastructure development across Southern
Africa, as governments accelerate investments in data-driven economies.
