The Centre for Information and Government Communication (CICG) and the National Agency for the Security of Information Systems (ANSSI) have strengthened the capacities of communicators from ministries, state institutions, and agencies on the security and certification of official social media accounts.

The training session took place in Abidjan-Plateau, as part of the resumption of the Business Clubs of the Network of Government Communication Services (RSGCOM), an initiative coordinated by the CICG for the 2026 programme year.

Led by ANSSI, the capacity-building session focused on the theme “Public communication in the age of social networks: securing and certifying official accounts.” It brought together communication directors, unit heads, communication officers, and community managers responsible for managing institutional digital platforms.

The initiative aims to establish a structured task force to support the certification and standardisation of official digital communication channels across government entities, ensuring greater security and credibility in public communication.

Speaking at the opening of the session, Technical Advisor representing the Director General of the CICG, Fabrice Aka M’VOUTI, noted that public communication has become increasingly multi-channel, extending beyond physical offices to digital platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn.

He stressed the need for government institutions to align their digital communication practices with established security and certification standards to enhance citizen engagement and trust.

“The key to success is communication. But poorly controlled communication can become the key to decline,” warned Commissioner Zégbéhi Ismaël, Head of the Training Department at ANSSI, underscoring the risks associated with weakly secured institutional communication channels.

The CICG and ANSSI reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening digital governance frameworks and ensuring that government communication systems are secure, reliable, and effectively aligned with modern digital realities.
