MTN South Sudan has
announced that it will provide free access to a digital learning platform by
zero-rating the service, enabling users across its network to access
educational content without incurring mobile data charges.
Speaking about the
initiative, MTN South Sudan Chief Executive Officer Mapula Bodibe said the
decision is aimed at removing connectivity barriers and making digital learning
more accessible to people across the country.
According to Bodibe, users
connected to the MTN South Sudan network will be able to access the platform
without paying for data, regardless of their location.
She noted that the
initiative is expected to particularly benefit young people, students, and
lifelong learners by ensuring that the cost of internet access does not prevent
them from utilizing digital educational resources.
The zero-rated platform
forms part of MTN South Sudan's broader efforts to leverage digital
technologies to promote education, digital inclusion, and equitable access to
information.
By eliminating data costs
for the platform, the company aims to expand learning opportunities for
individuals in both urban and rural communities while supporting the country's
digital transformation and human capital development.
MTN South Sudan said the
initiative demonstrates how telecommunications operators can use connectivity
and digital innovation to improve access to essential services and contribute
to socio-economic development.
The move aligns with wider
efforts across Africa's telecommunications sector to increase digital inclusion
by making education, skills development, and online public services more
affordable and accessible through innovative connectivity solutions.
