The Minister Delegate in
charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah
Seghrouchni, has participated in the official inauguration of Oracle’s Regional
Research and Development Office in Agadir, marking a significant milestone in Morocco’s
efforts to attract high-value technological investment.
The ceremony, held on
Monday, 29 June 2026, was chaired by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch,
and attended by senior government officials, diplomatic representatives, and
executives from Oracle, including Simon De Montfort Walker, Executive Vice President,
Industry Applications.
Also present were Karim
Zidane, Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation
of Public Policies; U.S. Ambassador to Morocco Duke Buchan III; Wali of the
Souss Massa region Saaïd Amzazi; and President of the Regional Council Karim
Achengli.
The establishment of
Oracle’s Regional R&D Office in Agadir reflects growing international
confidence in Morocco’s digital transformation agenda and its capacity to host
advanced technology and innovation investments. It is also seen as a strategic
step in positioning the country as a regional hub for research, development,
and digital innovation.
In her remarks, Minister El
Fallah Seghrouchni emphasized that the selection of Agadir aligns with
Morocco’s vision of using digital transformation as a catalyst for territorial
development. She noted that the initiative brings innovation closer to universities,
research centres, and employment zones, helping to strengthen local ecosystems
and regional competitiveness.
She further highlighted that
under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco continues to
implement an ambitious digital strategy focused on strengthening
infrastructure, developing a national artificial intelligence ecosystem, and
investing in advanced digital skills.
The Minister also
underscored that the expansion of Oracle’s R&D activities in Morocco will
contribute to the creation of skilled employment opportunities, reinforce the
national digital ecosystem, and facilitate the integration of Moroccan talent
into global technology value chains.
