Uganda's Minister of ICT and
National Guidance, Justine Kasule Lumumba, has visited the Uganda Broadcasting
Corporation (UBC) as part of ongoing familiarisation and engagement visits to
agencies under the ministry.
The minister was accompanied
by the Minister of State for Information, Communication and Technology, Joyce
Nabosa Ssebugwawo, and the ministry's Under Secretary, Sophia Nantongo.
During the visit, the
delegation received a comprehensive briefing on UBC's mandate, public
broadcasting operations, newsroom systems, digital migration initiatives and
transmission infrastructure.
The officials also met with
the broadcaster's board and management to discuss UBC's role in delivering
timely, accurate and accessible public information while supporting Uganda's
digital transformation agenda.
According to the Ministry of
ICT and National Guidance, the engagement formed part of a broader programme of
familiarisation visits aimed at strengthening collaboration between the
ministry and its agencies, improving service delivery and ensuring that sector
institutions are aligned with the ministry's strategic priorities.
The ministry said the visits
are intended to enhance coordination across its agencies as Uganda continues to
advance initiatives focused on digital transformation, improved public services
and the modernization of the country's information and communications sector.
