The leadership of the
Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has met with Nigeria’s Vice President,
Senator Kashim Shettima, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss the
implementation and advancement of the National Emergency Number 112.
The meeting was led by the
Chairman of the NCC Governing Board, Chief Idris Olorunnimbe, and focused on
strengthening the country's national emergency communications system through
the single emergency number.
The NCC delegation included
Engr. Abraham Oshadami, Executive Commissioner for Technical Services; Mr. Gwa
Tobbie Mohammed, Director of the Commission Secretariat; Mrs. Niteabai Dominic,
Special Adviser on Legal Matters to the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of the NCC; and Mr. Shuaibu Swade, Head of Projects.
Also present at the meeting
was Lydia Aina, Personal Assistant to the Vice President on Governance Support.
Discussions centred on the
National Emergency Number 112, Nigeria’s unified emergency telephone service
designed to provide citizens with rapid access to emergency response agencies
through a single nationwide number.
