The National Communications
Authority (NCA) of Somalia has published two foundational cybersecurity
instruments designed to strengthen the protection of the country’s critical
infrastructure and digital services.
The newly introduced
National Cybersecurity Risk Management Framework and National Cybersecurity
Compliance Framework provide a structured approach to improving cybersecurity
resilience across public and private sector organisations.
The National Cybersecurity
Risk Management Framework establishes a unified system for identifying,
assessing and managing cyber risks that could affect Somalia’s critical
infrastructure and digital services. It is intended to help organisations adopt
proactive measures to address cybersecurity threats and improve overall
resilience.
The National Cybersecurity
Compliance Framework introduces mandatory baseline cybersecurity controls for
all public and private sector organisations that own, operate or use critical
infrastructure.
Commenting on the milestone,
NCA Director General Mustafa Y. Sheik described the publication as a
significant step forward for Somalia’s digital future, noting that the
frameworks will provide essential guidance for strengthening national
cybersecurity capabilities.
He commended the dedication
of the NCA team in developing the instruments, which are expected to support a
more secure and resilient digital environment as Somalia continues its digital
transformation journey.
