Telecom has hosted an Italian delegation led by Italy's Minister for
Universities and Research, Professor Anna Maria Bernini, as the two sides
explored opportunities for cooperation in digital infrastructure, research and
innovation.
During
the visit, the delegation toured Djibouti Telecom's strategic
telecommunications facilities and received briefings on the country's growing
role as a regional digital connectivity hub linking Africa, the Middle East,
Europe and Asia through an extensive network of submarine cable systems and
telecommunications infrastructure.
The
discussions focused on the strategic importance of digital infrastructure in
advancing scientific research, innovation and international collaboration, with
both sides exchanging views on how robust connectivity can support academic
partnerships and technological development.

Telecom highlighted the critical role that high-capacity telecommunications
infrastructure plays in enabling knowledge exchange, cross-border research
initiatives and the digital economy, positioning Djibouti as a key gateway for
regional and global communications.
