Côte d’Ivoire has reaffirmed
its commitment to advancing digital transformation, artificial intelligence and
sustainable connectivity through its participation in a high-level
international dialogue held in Manaus, Brazil.
The dialogue, titled Infrastructure,
Intelligence and Impact: The Path Towards a Sustainable Future, was
organised by UNESCO and Brazil's National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel)
under the framework of the Artificial Intelligence Climate Institute (AICI).
The event brought together policymakers, international organisations and
technology experts to discuss the intersection of connectivity, artificial
intelligence, regulation and climate action.
Côte d’Ivoire was
represented by a delegation from the Telecommunications/ICT Regulatory
Authority of Côte d’Ivoire (ARTCI), led by Minister Roger Adom, President of
the Regulatory Council. The delegation also participated in AMAZON ON 2026, an
event focused on the theme Path to Connectivity and Sustainability.
During the engagements, Côte
d’Ivoire promoted its candidacy for a seat on the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council for the 2027–2030 term ahead of the 2026
ITU Plenipotentiary Conference.
The Ivorian delegation held
discussions with representatives from the World Bank, UNESCO, the ITU and other
international experts on issues related to digital infrastructure, artificial
intelligence governance and sustainable development. The exchanges highlighted
Côte d’Ivoire’s progress in developing its digital ecosystem and strengthening
its position as an emerging technology hub in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Speaking during the forum,
Minister Roger Adom reaffirmed ARTCI’s commitment to strengthening regulation
in areas including connectivity, artificial intelligence and sustainable
digital development to ensure technology delivers meaningful benefits for citizens.
The participation also
provided an opportunity for Côte d’Ivoire to strengthen international
partnerships, exchange best practices and contribute to global discussions
shaping the future of digital technologies and connectivity.
