The Ethiopian Artificial
Intelligence Institute has showcased its research and development activities as
representatives from government institutions, civic organisations and startups
described the institute as a practical demonstration of Ethiopia’s digital
transformation.
The delegation visited the
Institute as part of nationwide activities marking the “Day of Tomorrow” on
Pagumen 5, where participants were briefed on the institution’s work to develop
artificial intelligence solutions addressing challenges in Ethiopia and across
Africa.
Officials from the Institute
provided a detailed overview of its research and development programmes,
highlighting efforts to use AI technology to develop solutions to African
problems beyond Ethiopia.
Following the visit,
representatives from the participating institutions described the Institute as
an example of Ethiopia’s transition towards a more digitally enabled economy
and recognised the work being undertaken in artificial intelligence research and
innovation.
Members of the delegation
also called for stronger cooperation between the Institute and other sectors
and institutions to help advance Ethiopia’s technological development and
contribute to the country’s future growth.
The engagement provided an
opportunity for government offices, civic associations and startups to gain
insight into Ethiopia’s AI capabilities and explore potential areas for
collaboration.
The delegation is also
scheduled to visit technology and centres of excellence that have played a
leading role in advancing Ethiopia’s technological development.
The visits form part of
broader “Day of Tomorrow” activities aimed at highlighting institutions and
initiatives contributing to the construction of a modern, technologically
capable Ethiopia for future generations.
