Johannesburg, South Africa - Telecom regulator, the Independent
Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has set Monday 21st
of February, 2022 to officially announce qualified bidders for its auctioned 4G
and 5G spectrum.
According to the ICASA in a recent statement released, six
(6) network operators have so far applied for the available spectrums in the
700MHz, 800MHz, 2.6GHz, and 3.5GHz frequencies currently under auction.
It mentioned MTN, Vodacom, Cell C, Telkom South Africa, Rain
Network, and Liquid Telecom.
“This will mark the next critical milestone in the effort of
the authority to finally release this much-needed economic stimulus input,” the
statement said.
ICASA said the auction will take place on 8th March
2022.
