Nigeria will spotlight the
evolution of digital infrastructure investment in the country at a Nigeria
Digital Economy side event on the margins of the 81st United Nations General
Assembly (UNGA81) in New York.
The event, scheduled for
Monday, September 21, 2026, will feature a fireside chat with Sam Darwish and
Mohamad Darwish, Co-Founders of IHS Towers, focusing on the development and
evolution of digital infrastructure investment in Nigeria.
Nigeria’s Minister of
Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, announced
the session, which forms part of a broader programme of discussions examining
the technologies and capabilities shaping the country’s connected economy.
The fireside chat will be
one of several discussions and panels at the Nigeria Digital Economy @UNGA81
side event, with the programme covering digital infrastructure, artificial
intelligence and digital skills.
The sessions are expected to
examine the role of these areas in supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation
and building an economy capable of delivering broader opportunities and shared
prosperity.
The participation of IHS
Towers co-founders Sam and Mohamad Darwish will bring a focus on investment in
digital infrastructure, an area considered central to expanding connectivity
and supporting the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.
The event will provide an
international platform for Nigeria to engage stakeholders on its digital
economy ambitions while highlighting the importance of investment in the
