The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Egypt has hosted its first Annual Green Growth Conference. This initiative is part of UNDP’s broader commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs and small businesses in developing sustainable solutions and green jobs through programs like the Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Programme.

The conference brought together key stakeholders, including Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Chargé d’Affaires of Denmark, Frej Jackson, Dr. Ali Abo Sena, CEO of the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), representatives from the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, and Ambassador Hamdy Shaaban from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions focused on strengthening green innovation, promoting impact investing, and advancing circular economy solutions to accelerate Egypt’s transition towards sustainability.

A major highlight of the event was the announcement of new strategic partnerships with the Danish Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI), Banque du Caire, Vodafone, and Plan International. These collaborations will play a crucial role in expanding financial inclusion, digital learning, and youth entrepreneurship, equipping young innovators with the necessary tools to transform their ideas into impactful solutions.

The conference also celebrated the inspiring achievements of the winners of the Green Youth Ambassadors Awards, who showcased innovative projects that emphasize the role of young people in shaping a sustainable future. Their dedication reaffirms that youth remain at the heart of Egypt’s green transition.

UNDP Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside government entities, private sector partners, and international organizations to drive sustainable and inclusive development. By investing in youth and green entrepreneurship, the initiative aims to create lasting economic and environmental benefits, positioning Egypt as a leader in green growth.
