The ICT Association of
Uganda (ICTAU) Board of Directors has met with the Permanent Secretary of the
Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, to provide an update
on preparations for the 3rd National ICT Summit 2026 and seek strategic
guidance ahead of the national event.
The meeting focused on
strengthening collaboration between government and the private sector as Uganda
advances its digital transformation agenda. Dr. Zawedde highlighted the
importance of the National ICT Summit as a platform for government to share progress
on digital transformation programmes being implemented across Ministries,
Departments and Agencies (MDAs), while enabling the private sector to engage,
contribute and explore opportunities within the country’s digital ecosystem.
She noted that sustained
engagement between government and industry stakeholders is critical to
improving awareness of national digital initiatives, fostering partnerships and
accelerating the adoption of technology-driven solutions to support economic growth.
The 3rd National ICT Summit
2026 will be held from 2–4 September 2026 at the Innovation Hub in Nakawa under
the theme, “From Connectivity to Intelligence: Leveraging AI, Digital
Infrastructure and Innovation to Accelerate Uganda’s Tenfold Growth to a USD
500 Billion Economy by 2040.”
The summit is expected to
bring together government leaders, policymakers, regulators, development
partners, academia, innovators and private sector players to discuss the role
of technology in driving Uganda’s economic transformation.
The event will also showcase
sector-specific digital transformation roadmaps covering key areas including
agri-industrialisation, tourism development, mineral development, energy, oil
and gas, as well as science, technology and innovation.
Organisers said the summit
will provide a platform for dialogue, collaboration and the development of
practical solutions aimed at strengthening Uganda’s digital economy and
supporting the country’s long-term growth ambitions.
Registration for the 2026
National ICT Summit is currently ongoing, with stakeholders encouraged to
participate in shaping the future of Uganda’s innovation and digital
transformation landscape.
