Egypt’s National
Telecommunication Institute (NTI) and the Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority
(SLA) have signed a cooperation protocol to strengthen digital transformation,
artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and digital capacity building
within the judicial sector.
The protocol was signed by
NTI Director Ahmed Khattab and SLA Vice President and CEO of the Judicial
Studies, Training, and International and Cultural Cooperation Center (JSTICC),
Ahmed Saad, in the presence of Minister of Communications and Information Technology
Raafat Hendy and SLA President Abdel Nasser Abu El-Azm Issa.
Under the agreement, the two
institutions will collaborate on specialised training and continuous
professional development programmes for SLA counsellors and members of other
judicial bodies and entities, while also strengthening cooperation with JSTICC.
The partnership will provide
technical and advisory support drawing on NTI’s expertise in digital
transformation, cybersecurity and AI applications. It will also promote digital
justice by increasing awareness of technological developments and the challenges
associated with AI, cybersecurity and digital transactions.
The training is intended to
equip judicial personnel with the knowledge and skills required to address
emerging technology-related issues, adapt to new digital challenges and make
effective use of modern technologies in their work.
Minister Hendy said the
protocol reflects the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s
efforts to support state institutions in their digital transformation and
capacity-building programmes while strengthening cooperation between Egypt’s ICT
sector and judiciary.
He said specialised ICT
programmes would support the SLA’s digital transformation efforts and help the
Authority keep pace with rapid technological developments, particularly in
artificial intelligence, while improving institutional efficiency and performance.
Hendy expressed hope that
the agreement would lead to broader cooperation between NTI and SLA and further
strengthen the Authority’s digital transformation framework.
SLA President Abdel Nasser
Abu El-Azm Issa described the protocol as a new milestone in the partnership
between the institutions, reflecting their commitment to investing in human
capital and keeping pace with advances in technology and AI.
He highlighted the SLA’s
Artificial Intelligence Ambassadors Programme, launched last year in
partnership with NTI, as an important initiative for equipping counsellors with
the knowledge and skills needed to use AI applications effectively and explore
their potential to improve institutional operations.
Issa also welcomed the
launch of the programme’s second round, saying it demonstrates the value of
continued capacity building and the need to prepare judicial personnel for
emerging technological demands.
NTI Director Ahmed Khattab
said the institute would continue providing its training and technology
expertise to support SLA counsellors through programmes focused on AI,
cybersecurity and digital transformation.
He said the AI Ambassadors
Programme goes beyond introducing counsellors to AI tools by developing their
understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the technology, enabling
them to engage with AI applications more thoughtfully and effectively in the
judicial workplace.
Khattab reaffirmed NTI’s
readiness to deploy its expertise and resources to strengthen cooperation and
develop the digital skills of judicial personnel in line with the requirements
of digital justice and the future of the legal profession.
SLA Vice President Ahmed
Saad said the agreement would strengthen counsellors’ digital capabilities and
awareness of developments in AI, digital transformation and cybersecurity,
while preparing them to respond to emerging changes within the judicial ecosystem.
He added that the
partnership would pave the way for joint training programmes and events in the
near future.
The protocol builds on the
existing cooperation between NTI and SLA under the AI Ambassadors Programme and
will see the programme continue through additional rounds and cohorts,
including advanced-level AI training.
