Five trainees from Malanje
have received certificates after completing the National Programme for Training
and Certification of Space Technology Managers and Users, strengthening the
province’s capacity to manage and monitor space-based connectivity infrastructure.
The certificates were
presented during an official ceremony held by the Provincial Government of
Malanje on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The programme is promoted by the
Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social
Communication (MINTTICS), through the National Space Program Management Office
(GGPEN) and its partners.
The training was conducted
from May 18 to June 10, 2026, under the ANGOTIC 2026 programme and trained more
than 140 participants from Angola’s 21 provinces through a hybrid model
combining online classes with practical sessions in Huíla, Namibe and Luanda.
In Malanje, the certificate
presentation to representatives of the provincial government and startups was
led by the Deputy Governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure, Duarte
André Ginga. The ceremony formed part of efforts to strengthen the practical
component of the programme by involving provincial personnel directly in the
recovery and monitoring of connectivity points supported by ANGOSAT-2.
As part of the ongoing
national campaign, the GGPEN technical team has successfully restored the
Conecta Angola connectivity point in the municipality of Marimba, bringing the
infrastructure back into operation.
The intervention also
provided an opportunity to implement the programme’s skills-transfer objective
by preparing local managers to monitor the infrastructure and support the
continuity of connectivity services.
The national training
initiative is aimed at creating a network of specialised personnel in space
technologies, reducing dependence on external technical assistance, minimising
equipment downtime and protecting the continuity of public investments deployed
for the benefit of communities.
Alongside the connectivity
activities, training engagements were also held at the Quessua Agrarian
Technical Institute (ITAQ) in Malanje. Students studying Plant Production and
Agricultural Management were introduced to Observa+, an application that combines
Earth observation and artificial intelligence to provide territorial
information and support the analysis of different phenomena.
