Djibouti and the Digital
Cooperation Organization (DCO) are discussing deeper cooperation in artificial
intelligence, digital skills, innovation and capacity building as the country
advances its digital transformation ambitions.
DCO Founding
Secretary-General Deemah AlYahya held discussions with H.E. Safia Mohamed Ali
Gadileh, Djibouti’s Minister Delegate for Digital Economy and Innovation, on
opportunities to strengthen collaboration around the country’s digital agenda.
The engagement comes as
Djibouti advances its digital transformation plans through its first National
Forum on Artificial Intelligence, where the country unveiled its five-year
National AI Strategy for 2026–2030.
Djibouti’s digital ambitions
are also anchored in Vision Djibouti 2035, which seeks to harness digital
transformation as part of efforts to triple income per capita by 2035.
According to AlYahya, the
discussions focused on how Djibouti and the DCO can work together to advance
these ambitions, particularly through AI, digital skills development,
innovation and capacity building.
Djibouti is a member state
of the DCO, an organisation focused on advancing digital cooperation and
promoting digital prosperity among its member countries.
The engagement also
highlighted the role of women in shaping digital transformation, with AlYahya
describing Gadileh as a woman leader with a bold vision for Djibouti’s digital
future.
The DCO said it looks
forward to enhancing its cooperation with Djibouti under Gadileh’s leadership
as the country works to implement its AI strategy and broader digital
transformation objectives.
The collaboration is
expected to support Djibouti’s efforts to build digital capabilities and ensure
that technology, skills and innovation contribute to its longer-term
development ambitions.
