Ethiopia and Jordan are seeking
opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in technology and digital
transformation following a visit by Jordan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and
Permanent Representative to the African Union, Amjad Al-Moumani, to the
Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute.
The ambassador was received
by Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, Dr.
Worku Gachena, who briefed him on the institute’s activities and ongoing
technological development initiatives aimed at advancing Ethiopia’s technology
and artificial intelligence capabilities.
Discussions focused on
opportunities for collaboration between the two countries in artificial
intelligence, digital transformation, capacity building and the exchange of
technical expertise.
Al-Moumani commended
Ethiopia’s progress and vision in artificial intelligence and digital
transformation, describing the country’s development in the sector as
encouraging.
He also praised the work of
the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute and its contribution to
Ethiopia’s innovation-driven development agenda, which is aligned with the
vision of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
The ambassador reaffirmed
Jordan’s interest in deepening relations with Ethiopia and expanding
cooperation in emerging technologies and digital development.
The proposed collaboration
is expected to create opportunities for knowledge and experience sharing while
supporting capacity development and the adoption of digital technologies in
both countries.
