The Data Protection
Commission (DPC) is strengthening collaboration with regional authorities to
expand its presence across Ghana and bring privacy, data protection and
responsible data governance services closer to institutions, businesses and
citizens.
The Commission’s recent
engagements with Western Regional Minister Hon. Joseph Nelson, Eastern Regional
Minister Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey and Northern Regional Minister Hon. Ali Adolf
John, together with Northern Regional Coordinating Council Chief Director Mr.
Sumaila Ewuntomah Abudu, focused on opportunities to establish a stronger
regional presence.
The discussions explored
ways to improve access to DPC services and strengthen public awareness of
privacy and data protection obligations at the regional level.
The initiative is aimed at
supporting institutions and businesses to better understand their
responsibilities in handling personal data while helping citizens become more
aware of their privacy rights.
The Commission said closer
engagement with regional authorities is important to promoting responsible data
governance and strengthening trust in Ghana’s increasingly data-driven
environment.
The DPC reaffirmed its
commitment to building a trusted, responsible and data-driven Ghana through
stronger institutional collaboration and wider public awareness of data
protection and privacy.
