The African Continental Free
Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat and Quest Ghana Limited have signed an
agreement in Accra to establish the AfCFTA Digital Trade Corridor, a digital
trade infrastructure initiative aimed at connecting African businesses with markets
across the continent.
The agreement was signed in
Accra, establishing a framework for the development of a single digital
environment through which African businesses can access African markets and
facilitate trade.
The Digital Trade Corridor
is intended to strengthen the way African commodities reach investors by
introducing certified standards and creating a more structured digital
environment for cross-border trade.
The initiative forms part of
the wider implementation of the AfCFTA Agreement, with the digital corridor
designed to translate established trade rules into practical tools that
businesses can use.
According to the AfCFTA
Secretariat, the agreement provides the rules and framework required for the
initiative, while instruments such as the Digital Trade Corridor are intended
to make those rules operational and accessible to businesses.
The partnership with Quest
Ghana Limited is expected to contribute to efforts to strengthen intra-African
trade by improving digital connections between businesses and markets and
supporting more efficient access to investment opportunities.
