The International
Telecommunication Union (ITU) will convene the seventh World
Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum (WT P F) in Nassau, The Bahamas, with
discussions focused on accelerating an inclusive, sustainable, resilient and
innovative digital future.
Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava,
Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, said he is in Nassau
ahead of the commencement of the forum, which will address key issues shaping
the future of digital development.
The engagements will cover
green digital transformation, the ITU’s Partner2Connect initiative for digital
development and efforts to achieve universal and meaningful connectivity.
Zavazava will also
inaugurate the ITU–Saudi Arabia masterclass, which will focus on empowering
innovative digital policy approaches to build trusted, inclusive and
sustainable digital ecosystems.
The discussions are expected
to bring together policymakers and other stakeholders to examine how countries
can respond to rapid technological advances while ensuring that digital
transformation delivers broader economic and social benefits.
Key areas of focus will
include strengthening digital connectivity, building resilient digital
economies and supporting policies that enable innovation while promoting
sustainability and inclusion.
According to Zavazava, the
overarching objective of the engagements is to help countries navigate
technological change and develop digital economies that are more inclusive,
resilient and prepared for the future.
